About herVoice

Her Voice is an exciting new direction for the Australian Businesswomen’s Network (ABN) - a response to numerous requests for the ABN to take a leading role in public policy development, advocacy and lobbying on issues relating to Australian business women and female entrepreneurs.

Her Voice will take the concerns of the ABN’s community of over 20,000 Australian businesswomen to government and industry, advocating and lobbying to make a real difference to legislative outcomes.

  • Complex reporting and legal compliance requirements
  • The superannuation gap between males and females
  • Excessive red tape, bureaucracy and paperwork
  • Difficulty in dealing with government
  • Lack of Government support, subsidies, incentives and grants for businesswomen
  • Lack of paid maternity leave
  • Difficulty in accessing child and aged care
  • Taxation issues
  • Workers’ compensation premiums
  • IR and OHS legislation
  • Shortage of skilled workers
  • Bank fees and charges
  • Lack of education for small business owners
  • High failure rate of small business
  • Succession planning
  • Limited numbers of female students considering business ownership as a career
  • Cost of intellectual property registration and protection
  • Women’s health and wellbeing

Through herVoice, the ABN is now poised to make a real difference to Australian women in business by lobbying strongly on their behalf across all three levels of government.

Her Voice was established through grant funding provided by the Australian Office for Women, under the 2006-07 Women’s Leadership and Development Program.
