Your Budget Questions
Posted by: sdafnis in Blog Posts, Polls and Surveys, tags: budget 2009You’ve no doubt heard the highlights of the 2009 Budget brought down last Tuesday. But, what does it mean for your small business? Ask your questions here and we’ll help point you in the right direction to find answers. In the meantime here are a couple of resources: Dyamic Business and Smart Company have both covered the main issues that impact small business.
I do have a question for you though:
Is the Rudd Government doing enough to aid small business?
Take part in this national poll and tell us. We’ll share the results next week.
Tonight opposition leader Malcolm Turnbull will reply to the budget from the Liberals point of view. We’ve managed to get a copy of the response to the budget from Shadow Minister for Small Business, Steven Ciobo.
Click here to to read Shadow Minister Steven Biobo’s response to the budget.
We’d love to hear your thoughts.

I agree very little has been put forward in the current budget to assist small business.
I know many will agree.
My bug bears:-
Payroll Tax Get rid of payroll tax!! The tax on businesses to employ people.
Land Tax
Stamp duty
Extra export grant money is great! If you have the funds to spend in the first instance!
50% rebate on investment! Great if you have the funds, but how will this help the Australian economy when most of the items suitable for this rebate originate from offshore manufacturers.
I also heard today that a lot of vehicle traders have actually increased the prices of vehicles by approx of 10% to “cash in” on the situation. One story is a guy organised to purchase a new van, fitted with all the bells and whistles was quoted one price last week, this week he was told, oh sorry mate that particular vehicle is not available anymore…but we do have an updated one but it will cost a little more..Approx 5k more than originally quoted.
Is it true what I heard that superannuation will increase to 16%?
The next 18 months will be very difficult for any small business; I wish everyone the best of luck and hope to see you all on the other side
